Sunday, October 9,2011 - The Story of You
~ Rev. William M. Heller

Sunday's lesson Lesson: the story of you. Our lessons this season will be a continuous weaving of the Toltec Wisdom, provided in a manner we can apply these teaching to our lives daily. More specifically, to apply these to our thinking and attention throughout the day; a means to shift the way you see your world and your life.

The First Agreement- Be impeccable with your word We begin with a reiteration of the first agreement from last week- Be impeccable with your word. Word in this statement applies to our expression, our intention, impeccability speaks to the depth of our consciousness, our intent, our focus.

A voice is always speaking to you. When you are open to it, the Holy Spirit is always in complete communication with you. You need simply ask. When you're not open to Spirit within you, your own individual voice is continuously speaking. Always. Don Miguel refers to this voice as" virtual knowledge." He points out "This voice is not real, it is an error, it's temporary, and it fluctuates continuously." The chapter is entitled "The Story of You"- For it is the story you have made up about yourself, it is the way you think of yourself. We don't question this, and instead simply accept it. Has it been right? Has it continuously brought you peace and resolution to you in your life…resolution that worked? Or has it brought you a state of being guarded, uncertain, and judgemental?

"Be Impeccable with your word" means Be conscious of what you are telling yourself. Think of any judgement or decision you have about yourself. You might ask yourself, would a loving Creator, who knows you and loves you completely, be telling you? Are your thoughts or words you use daily consciously considered? Are they the thoughts you would share with those close to you in your life? If not, then why beat yourself up with these? Why judge yourself? It is all a story you are telling yourself.

BEING IMPECCABLE WITH YOUR WORD MEANS NEVER USE THE POWER OF THE WORD AGAINST YOURSELF. The role calls for looking for the truth within you and disregarding or denying or forgiving any other mistaken thought. When being impeccable with your word - You will not tell yourself that "I'm old, fat, ugly, weak, alone; whatever those stories you have decided and told yourself. Self judgement/ all judgment, is seen for what it is, mistaken and useless knowledge. It but furthers a story you've made up about yourself and forwarded with others.

The lesson here is the calling to consciously watch your thoughts and your judgements. Left unguarded, thoughts of judgement, attack, criticism and/or anger perpetuate a world of the same. These words can instead be used to redirect your thinking- to look deeper within to God's Presence, the Holy Spirit, within you.

Perhaps you can use these three questions as a means to observe your thought process:

1. Does this statement forward my ability to extend my heart, my love, to others?

2. Would I use this statement, this judgment, when speaking to my children, my family, or the love of my life?

3. Where would this statement fit in my conversation with God?

Being impeccable with your word to yourself or to someone else, lifts your manner of communication, it uplifts the story of you and it can't help but awaken you further to your divinity.

The concept is simple but the willingness may not be, at least initially. After all we've been relying on our virtual knowledge for a long, long time. It takes practice. I invite you to watch for your opportunities and to change your fear and uncertainty to knowing your divinity.
The Second Agreement-Don't take anything Personally The next chapter is entitled "Every mind is a world." Driven by the thoughts we have and the memories we retain-each one of us has formed a picture of the world. Some aspects of these worlds will "appear" similar to others idea associated with common perceptions we have. Yet the "virtual knowledge" we believe in serves to shape the way we see, will never be fully agreed on by two let alone 6.9 billion of us! Can you accept that? Further- our virtual knowledge has led to our developing expectations of one another. Much of the time, there is agreement to some degree. Great! But that agreement is temporary. These expectations are established individually, within our own "virtual knowledge." After all, first and foremost, this is where we go for our perceptions, our decisions, and our expectations, both of ourselves and of others.

One story of virtual knowledge is meeting with another story of virtual knowledge. The difference in expectations and the corresponding clash of will is the source of upset. If you were to observe how others perceive you, it's most likely you will find a different perception of you than you hold of yourself in your relationship with them. Yet it appears to them as the truth; just as your perception of them appears to you as the truth. Neither can be the Truth! They are but perceptions, the virtual knowledge to which we have been referring. Do not take anything personal! What we are dealing with whenever a judgement or upset arises is another's virtual knowledge! While you might come close to satisfying them, you will never fully fit their expectations.

Instead, use this encounter as an opportunity for you to look within, to look for your deeper truth and to practice the first Agreement: Be impeccable with your word. Remember, this is a path home, to your divinity, your holiness and it provides the same opportunity for whoever you are with.

We'll have more on this agreement topic next week. In the meantime- BE IMPECCABLE WITH YOUR WORD, and DON'T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY
